Hello to all you WSMR & WSPG
Brats,
NOW FOR THE WRAP-UP!
Well it happened! And bigger than we had hoped!
Thanks to Steve Meador with the help of Melanie Thomas, Ralph
and Babette Smith, Gary Meador, Bill Adler along with the help
of others as a planning committee organized an awesome reunion
for August 6-9, 2010. We will be posting more results along with
pictures of the event soon.
What actually happened:
Friday August 6th, 2010 evening - A memorable dinner/dance at
the beautiful NM Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, with an excellent
buffet dinner amidst breathtaking views of the Organ Mountains,
music provided by Master DJ and WSMR Brat Larry Fieldler and photography
provided by Jack Diven Photography.
Saturday Aug. 7th - Tour of WSMR, included the historic launch complex 33, a scrumptious luncheon
at the Frontier Club (formerly the O-Club) with Guest speakers, Carlos Bustamantes, a long time engineer on the base and an inductee in the WSMR Hall of Fame, and Mr. Robert S. Carter (Executive Director of research, testing and evaluation). We then visited the WSMR Museum. Later that evening we enjoyed a fun filled evening
reception and delicious Mexican buffet dinner at the Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

A Letter from the Reunion Founder -8/26/10
Well, we did it again. We held our fifth "WSMR Kids’ Reunion"!
In 2004 there was the all 60’s reunion for LCHS and the LCHS class of 1964 reunion. We survived and worked with both reunions to ensure that dinner dances did not conflict with one another. This year as well as our “2010 WSMR Kids Reunion” there was the all 80’s Mayfield High School reunion and another “WSMR 2010 reunion” that was organized by a group of 80’s kids. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful reunion put on by a new committee. Hopefully next time we can set something up that only competes with ourselves.

A
MESSAGE FROM YOUR WEBMASTER & LISTKEEPER!
As
your webmaster, and current list keeper, I posted this site
and added Bill Adler's list in 1991. It has been a labor of
love for me since then (10yr resident of WSMR/class of 70).
My experiences at WSMR was such that I am committed to support
the reunion efforts of us WSMR Kids that appreciate the unique
experience that we all share by living on the base. Believe
it or not, our presence at WSMR now has a prominent place
in history! The time, effort and resources I have contributed
is for the purpose of having a way we can all stay in touch!
I do not require your assistance in continuing this effort,
however if you feel that you have been blessed by this website
and would like to contribute to the ongoing development and
support of the expenses required (hosting & server fees)
to keep this site alive and growing along with me, feel free
to donate at the following link. A special thanks goes out
to those few WSMR Kids that have donated in the past. I assure
you it is appreciated and also assure you this is quite the
"non-profit" type of program! To contribute your support click
on the following link:
A Thank You
goes out to the couple of you WSMR Kids that have contributed
to the effort in the past. It has helped us continue the development
and offset some of the costs of maintaining this site. All
proceeds will be applied to server, hosting & website
expenses. I am sure that all the WSMR Kids thank you for your
support.
The List: There are currently 3,156 names on the list! Latest revision 8/18/10
Please CLICK HERE and complete your Get Listed Form /
Reunion Survey to receive access to the list so you can see where
your old friends and neighbors are and how to contact them!
We want to express our appreciation
to Bill Adler, original founder of the WSMRKids Reunion efforts, Bill,
from the start, has spearheaded the effort of compiling and updating
"The List" and was also involved with the planning of the past reunions.
Without his much appreciated efforts, the success of reunions of the
past might not have been possible.
After the many years that Bill has been diligently keeping, managing
and revising "The List", he is passing the torch of keeping the list
to your webmaster, Jim Fulp, who is also committed to keeping the
list posted as current and secure as possible.
We need your help from all of you in keeping this list updated and
complete as possible also in helping in finding people that have never
been found, re-lost people and new people. Contact your WSPG/WSMR
friends and make sure they go to the site and have updated us with
their information via the "Get Listed" form.
Each of you periodically needs to go to the web page - "The List"
page and resubmit your information. That is how we are able to keep
addresses, phone no., and emails current. Who knows, maybe one of
your old WSMR best friends is wanting to contact you!
To share your own memories &
pictures with fellow WSMR Kids,
to submit them in the simple form format.
WE
HAVE AN IMPORTANT REQUEST FROM THE WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE
MUSEUM!
Dear WSMR Kids,
I am in the process of collecting artifacts, photographs,
blueprints, stories to create an exhibit, here at the White
Sands Missile Range Museum, to tell the story of the children
and youth programs/activities of WSMR for the past 65 years.
I understand that you will be having your Reunion in August
and I would like to invite you to bring with you anything
that you might want to share or to be considered for use
in this exhibit.
I specifically am looking for old photos of the buildings
that once housed the various youth activities and photos
or programs, invitations for any special events.
The White Sands Missile Range Historical Foundation
is accepting donations for personalized bricks to be installed
in the Missile Park. Brick sizes range from 4' X 8' to 24"
X 24" and the price ranges from $65.00 to $840.00. (If you
